TaxProMax is an online portal by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) that seeks to ease tax compliance procedures in Nigeria.
The electronic platform allows taxpayers to register for tax, and apply for and check the validity of tax clearance certificate (TCC). Other features include filing monthly and annual tax returns, file transfer pricing returns, tax payment, track receipts, and withholding tax (WHT) credit notes. However, newly registered taxpayers and foreign companies may not have full access to all the features of TaxProMax due to the system settings. In such instances, the taxpayer can contact the relevant tax office for guidance. The relevant FIRS office is the tax office where a taxpayer should be registered for taxes. Discussing with the company’s tax consultant in Nigeria can be helpful as well.
How do I register for TaxPro Max in Nigeria?
Taxpromax registration can be completed by filling out the registration form online at https://taxpromax.firs.gov.ng/taxpayer. A person can also submit a duly completed taxpayer update form at the relevant FIRS office. Going through the FIRS office locator in Nigeria is helpful. Taxpromax registration can be done alongside when a taxable person registers for tax with FIRS. Documents required to conclude the registration process include incorporation/registration details, means of identification, contact details, and proof of address. Upon successful registration, FIRS will issue a tax identification number (TIN). Although the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) may include TIN on a company’s certificate of incorporation, a taxable person must register for tax (and TaxProMax) upon commencement of business.
How to activate TIN on Taxpromax?
After successful registration, FIRS will activate the tax of the taxable person. There is usually no additional effort to activate TIN from the side of the taxpayer. New users will receive a username and password via e-mail to access the digital site. The log-in detail for Taxpromax is the same as the information to access the FIRS EServices portal for TCC.
